Bogota is the capital of Colombia and is placed in the eastern side of the Andes mountain system, at an average of 2600 meters above the sea level. The average temperature is 14°C and between August and September the weather is dry.

Bogotá has a lot of turistic places like Jose Celestino Mutis Botanic Garden, the Gold Museum, the Quinta de Bolivar, the Candelaria quarter, the Simón Bolivar Park, Maloka and the Sabana train. Near of Bogota are located touristic places such as the Salt Cathedral, the Guatavita laggon, the Jaime Duque Park and the Calera viewpoints.

RESTAURANTS

Some of the most traditional restaurants are: La Puerta Falsa, located at 11th St, offers at anytime hot cocoa, almojábanas, tamales, aguadepanela, pericos eggs, milk-based sweets and many other desserts. At La Florida, located at 7th Av and 21th St, and at the tea salon Yanuba located at 122th St, traditional Colombian food can be found as well. Delicious empanadas can be found at Las Magaritas restaurant in Chapinero sector. Desserts from Barrios Unidos and sea food from Restrepo and International Center are quite desired for visitors.

CULTURE

Some of the best museums in Bogotá are: the Gold Museum with a selection of pre-Columbian gold and other metal alloys; the Botero Museum, it is the larggest collection of contemporary art in Latin Ametica valued over 450 million euros, the National Hall of Artists... over 70 galeries and 58 museums, 45 theathers and functions in over 40 city cinemas.

 

NATURE

Natural Parks Chingaza, Entre Nubes, Chicaque (all part of the National Reserve) and the worlds biggest paramo, Sumapaz paramo, offer a magnificent view of the Andes forest. Those can be traveled by walking, where the sighteening of animals and vegetation ans magnificents waterfalls is innevitable. And all of these place are just 30min away from the city.
